Using the 5 Whys on 360 Feedback
Help employees to better understand what they need to improve, so they can take the right actions.
Summary and discussion
The '5 Whys' is a technique where you ask 'why?' 5 times to improve your understanding of a specific problem / area for improvement.
We recommend that employees (and their supporting manager/coach) use this technique on the 2-3 areas that they are focusing on improving.
In doing so, they can:
- Identify the root cause(s) for each area needing improvement
- Plan actions that will make a real difference to their development.
